We have always believed that one of Carcano’s strengths is its comprehensive tracking of every operation performed in creating each single piece, including all processes and checks carried out. What may go unnoticed, perhaps, is the fact that tracking does not start within our production plants, but a long time before. Because, in order to be absolutely sure of providing our customers with a top quality and highly reliable product, we need to go much further back in time.
Full tracking starts with the individual casting
We have often talked about how Carcano keeps precise tracks on every process and every check performed on every batch of products. So, if tracking is an essential requirement of our products, it is equally important to underline that such checking starts with the actual casting of the steel.

Products that are tracked right from the casting of the raw material
Tracking is an essential requirement for CARTEC products: this is why we record every detail, starting from the steel casting used for each batch of products
Every single CARTEC piece made by Carcano is identified by a code which allows us to trace back to the actual casting used for the forging i.e. it not only indicates the steelworks that supplied the metal, but also the precise supply.
It goes without saying that the raw materials used by Carcano come from the best Italian steelworks, approved after careful acceptance tests. Before proceeding with any transformation of technical steels, we check that they fully comply with current regulations (DIN and UNI). It is a procedure that meets a precise internal testing rule, even if – given the large quantities of specially laminated material used by the forging plant – Carcano is able to obtain and therefore offer its customers a high level of uniformity.
A comprehensive filing system for every piece
All information relating to CARTEC production is filed in special registers, which makes it easy to carry out checks at any time
The information relating to the steelworks that supplied the raw materials and the actual casting used for forging a piece together with details of all its processing phases is filed in special registers which contain all the markings relating to each single forging activity carried out by Carcano.
The fact that we can at any time retrieve the values of the raw material used as well as the information relating to intermediate and final processing phases means that comprehensive checks on product conformity are possible and can also be conducted well after the production date if that were necessary for any reason.
This rigorous internal procedure stems from our desire to guarantee our customers three requirements that are essential for us: high quality, maximum safety, full transparency. We would like those who use Carcano products to know that they can always put their faith in lifting systems that succeed in performing their tasks every time in the most effective way possible: moreover, this is also the reason why we created, among other things, the Carcano Safety School, which aims to teach our users how to make an effective, efficient, high-performance and safe lifting system.
Quality stamped on the metal: for easy tracking
In addition to legal markings, all CARTEC products bear a stamped code that allows all the information in the Carcano archives to be retrieved immediately
The tracking of every product is made easier by the fact that all the necessary information is stamped on the surface of the individual items: a procedure established in compliance with the requirements of the UNI EN 9001 standard which Carcano adopted a number of years ago and the company’s quality system.
For this reason, all CARTEC items – which are made through a hot forging process – not only have Carcano’s SCG brand stamped on the surface and the classic markings required by the various regulations, but also a code that allows every aspect of the piece in question to be identified: the casting used for the forging process and then, as a consequence, the steelworks that supplied the material together with all its processing phases and all the checks carried out.
